Blankets for cancer patients who may not have anyone coming by.

Our story

A long stay makes it clear who has company.

Cathy spent most of her life in the hospital. She lived through a variety of cancers, and she lived with them for decades. Time like that teaches you the ordinary details of a ward: the light, the hours, and which rooms stay quiet.

What stood out was how many people on the cancer units had no family stopping in. So the family began collecting blankets. Every Christmas, they take those blankets to the hospital and leave one with someone who could use the warmth, and the visit.

The blankets

A folded gift, handed from one person to another.

  1. Collected

    Blankets are gathered through the year, then folded and tied, ready to be given away.

  2. Carried in

    Every Christmas, the family brings them to people staying on the cancer units.

  3. Handed over

    Each blanket goes to someone who may not have another visitor that day.

The tradition is deliberately small.

There is no sign-up on this page yet. The family shows up with blankets. This site is here so more people can learn why, and so there is a place to grow from.

Ways to give a blanket, or to ask for one, will be added when the family is ready.
